A kitchen that runs on clarity
Every order, every station, every priority — visible to your team the moment it matters.
Real-Time Order Display
Orders appear on the kitchen screen the moment they are placed — from the POS, from QR ordering, or from any device. No paper slips, no shouting across the pass.
Colour-Coded Priority
Orders progress from green to yellow to red as prep time increases. Kitchen staff see at a glance which tickets need urgent attention without checking a clock.
Multi-Station Support
Configure separate displays for tandoor, grill, cold section, and desserts. Each station sees only relevant items — keeping every section focused and organised.
Order Timing & Tracking
Each ticket shows elapsed time since the order was placed. Track average prep times per dish and per station — automatically, without any extra logging.
One-Tap Order Completion
Kitchen staff tap to mark items ready. The waiter is notified to pick up the order. No shouting, no running, no confusion about which table is waiting.
Works Offline
Orders appear on the KDS even during internet outages. Your kitchen keeps running through any connectivity issue — the display never goes blank.
How the kitchen display works
Order placed at POS or QR menu
A waiter takes an order at the POS, or a customer places it via QR code. The moment the order is confirmed, it fires to the Kitchen Display System — tagged with the table number and time.
Kitchen works through the display
Each item appears as a card on the screen in the relevant station. Staff work through orders in priority order, guided by the colour-coding. When an item is ready, they tap to mark it complete.
Waiter is notified, order is delivered
As items are marked ready, the POS notifies the floor staff that the order is ready for pickup. Table service becomes seamless — no shouting, no missed pickups, no cold food.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Kitchen Display System and why do restaurants use it?
A Kitchen Display System (KDS) is a screen mounted in the kitchen that shows incoming orders in real time, replacing printed paper KOT slips. Restaurants use it to speed up kitchen operations, reduce errors from illegible handwriting, and give kitchen staff a clear view of order priority. Orders change colour as time passes so the team can see which tickets need urgent attention.
Does the KDS work on a regular tablet or TV screen?
Yes. CurryIQ's Kitchen Display System runs in any modern browser — on an Android tablet, iPad, laptop, or a TV screen connected to a small computer or Chromecast. You do not need to buy special hardware. Mount your existing screen in the kitchen and open the KDS in the browser.
Can different kitchen sections see different orders?
Yes. CurryIQ supports multi-station KDS. You can configure separate displays for different kitchen sections — tandoor, grill, cold section, desserts — and each station sees only the items relevant to it. This keeps the kitchen organised and prevents one section from being overwhelmed while another is idle.
Does the kitchen display work when the internet goes down?
Yes. CurryIQ's offline mode extends to the Kitchen Display System. Orders placed during an internet outage appear on the KDS normally — they are processed locally on the device. Your kitchen keeps running through any outage without any interruption.
Can I still print paper KOT slips alongside the kitchen display?
Yes. CurryIQ supports simultaneous KOT printing and kitchen display. Many restaurants use both during the transition period — the KDS as the primary workflow and paper KOT as a backup. You can disable paper KOT printing once your kitchen team is comfortable with the screen.
